Anyway, I fell asleep on the plane and missed the delicious lunch they brought so that was depressing. The Turkish airline was very nice. Lunch came with a chocolate mousse thing for dessert. It looked like it was good. I guess I'll never know.

Turkey Day 1
So, we left Jerusalem at approximately 8 AM on Sunday morning. Going through Israeli airport security is quite the ordeal and for some odd reason (I must have a guilty face), I get questioned a lot more than everyone else. So, you should be proud of me for making it through.

So the first day in Turkey was pretty much do nothing day. We flew into Istanbul, met our tour guide for the week, moved into our hotel, walked around Istanbul for an hour, and then ate the first of many Turkish dinners consisting of lentil soup, some sort of meatball, lots of bread, and baklava for dessert. There were other things as well. They fed us wonderful food. However, I always felt bad for the restaurants because the doctor here told us to avoid eating salads because the Turkish water is not safe to drink. We weren't even allowed to brush our teeth with it. Yes, I forgot that was a rule and accidentally did it every night.

Kaitlyn I am so gald you didn't get sick from your teeth brushing and the protests didn't disrupt your trip. Turkey is beautiful. Love your pics and the clothing bunting. So unusual. I can't wait to see more pics especially of your biblical field trips :)
